Another successful win for SL4's this week.
We knew this would be a great opportunity for a win this week and we set ourselves the task of winning those 3 points.
From the start, SL4's dominated the game, pushing the game high in to the attacking half, causing P&R some difficulty, making them work hard for the ball. With a number of shots on goal which were saved, SL4's were building up to goal with confidence and elegance.
On a break, P&R stormed up the pitch, took a cheeky shot which reflected off a Sonning stick....own goal! Grrrrrrrr, that was not deserved.
Heads up and sticks down, SL4's were straight back in the game, pressurising the opposition in their own D, with a number of shorts awarded. Before we knew it.....GOAL from Sophie Greenway!
Half time whistle was blown and a well deserved rest was needed. Quick chat from our two coaches and we were ready for the second half.
Straight away we were dominating P&R, they were showing signs of fatigue and we made the most of it.
We had some excellent play for all in midfield, playing the ball around the opposition, showing light work of what was a very physical and fast paced game.
With a number of opportunities missed by SL4's, Lisa Meadows finally put the ball in the back of the net.....GOAL for SL4's.
With a tight and quick press, the commitment to win, SL4's successfully won the game 2-1.
3 points in the bag.........objective achieved.
Muff of the match - Amy Shaw for her own goal, although Amy had a awesome game and was key to our win on Saturday, well done.....despite the goal!
Woman of the match - Sophie Greenway. Sophie had an amazing game, she ensured that every pass was a Sonning ball, pressured the opposition and was at the centre of the great play. Plus she scored a goal!
Well done to Lisa - your first goal of the season.......lets get a few more please :-) Also, thanks for being captain at last weeks game.
Not forgetting, special thanks to all the team. Everyone gave 100%. It was a fast paced game and even with tired legs everyone ran, no one walked and everyone deserved the win. Well done.
Next week is our big game against the top of the division.....wish us luck!
