First game of 2017 and we started if off with a local derby, Sonning v Reading at home.
At the start of the season, Reading beat us 2-1, we were determined to take a win this week.
SL4's were on form from the start. A fast paced first half that was mainly played in the attacking half. SL4's rattled Reading's cage and Helen Davies scored a cracking goal, which was well supported by the team. 1-0 to Sonning.
We went in to the break, with high spirits and the will to take the game.
Second half started and Reading came back with full force, they had a game plan and they were executing it well. With a very physical second half, Reading managed to slip in two goals, one on one with our GK.
SL4's didn't give up, they played hard in the last ten minutes, digging deep and dominating Reading, but with a excellent Reading GK and a little bad luck, SL4's were not able to equalise.
So another 2-1 win to Reading, but a great game, were every single Sonning team member gave their all.
Woman of the match was Beatrice John.
Muff of the match, Helen Davies for a stick swing that most definitely belongs on a golf green and not a hockey pitch.
Well done SL4's a great fight.
