After a draw last week, SL4's were determined to get some goals this week. Playing SB4's was going to be a competitive match, but one we were confident we could win.
SB4's were younger and faster compared to our previous match. They had a number of developing players who were excellent on the ball and showed great determination throughout.
With fast legs they were threatening from the start, spending most of the first quarter attacking Sonning. With a tight defence and an amazing gk (thank you sarah for stepping up) we managed to keep the ball out and our spirits up.
A pretty even and fast paced first half.
A quick half time chat...with a few haribo and oranges to get our energy levels back up....we were on.
The second half was fast again, SB4's were relentless, but gaps started to open and Sonning started tonoush through. With atleast 3 shots passing straight past the goal and some cracking saves from a very young SB4's gk....our frustrations grew.
A SB4's player intercepted a pass, flipped the ball straight up in to her face....split eyelid and blood everywhere....Sonning to the rescue with their first aid kit. whilst the player was patched
up (carefully not getting blood on our beautiful pitch) quick team talk before the last 15mins.
Sonning dug deep, making the passes, looking dangerous...but no goals. A nil, nil draw. Second one in a row...but another point, so we can't complain....too much.
Players of the match were Emma and sarah elliott. Both played excellent, thank you.
