Sonning Hockey Club is fantastic club in the Reading & Berkshire area offering a great standard of hockey for both serious and social players alike.

Located at the Berkshire County Sports Club, Sonning Ln, Sonning runs 6 Mens and 5 Ladies teams as well as comprehensive Junior and Vets hockey programmes to provide hockey for every age and ability.

The club plays within the South Central leagues, with the Mens 1st XI having recently gotten promoted to compete in South Central Premier Division 2 and the Ladies 1st XI in Prem 2.

We also offer a comprehensive summer hockey programme of local Summer League games and Mixed Hockey, offering great fun and a different experience than in the season.

Our junior section features fantastic coaches for girls and boys across all age groups, from under 8s through to under 16s - offering a family feel and managed pathway for your child to pick up hockey in a supportive environment.

Teams range from experienced players through to development and social hockey to suit everyone's skill levels. For those new to the sport or out of practice, keep an eye out for our Roll Up & Back to Hockey sessions taking place this Summer through July and August!

We train weekly, with Mens training taking place on Tuesday evenings, while Ladies train on Wednesdays. U8s-U12s train before the men on Tuesday nights and U14-U16s train on a Wednesday before the Ladies. We also offer bespoke Penalty Corner sessions fortnightly on a Thursday to sharpen those skills.

We’re pleased to offer a range of membership options to suit everyone and every situation. New members benefit from an extended decision period of 'try before you buy' so you can have a feel of the club and make sure we are the fit you want, which makes us a great value option to continue your hockey career, pick a stick back up, or try something new!
